Kashmir to Get Chrysanthemum Park with Rs 1.87 Crore Investment
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is set to welcome a new thematic attraction as a Chrysanthemum Theme Park, named Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood, is being developed at the Botanical Garden in Srinagar. The ambitious project, which will span 100 kanal of land, is being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.87 crore and is expected to open to the public by next autumn.
The initiative, according to an official spokesman was reviewed today by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo during a meeting of the Floriculture, Gardens & Parks Department. The meeting, attended by senior officials including the Commissioner Secretary of the Floriculture Department and representatives from SKUAST-K, assessed the progress of the project and explored its viability.
Dulloo emphasised the potential of such gardens to extend Kashmir’s tourism season, particularly during the autumn months. He encouraged the department to collaborate with local agricultural universities and the Tourism Department to establish similar gardens in other regions of Jammu & Kashmir, including prominent tourist destinations and areas around Jammu city.
Commissioner Secretary Sheikh Fayaz highlighted that the Chrysanthemum, often referred to as the Queen of the East, blooms in October and November in vibrant hues and is regarded as a symbol of royalty. The theme park is envisioned as an autumn-season attraction, complementing the globally renowned Tulip Garden, and aims to offer visitors a unique floral experience during the fall months.T
he meeting was informed that Rs 40 lakh has already been allocated to the R&B Department for initial development work this year. The comprehensive plan includes not only floral displays but also amenities and utilities to enhance the visitor experience.
The Chrysanthemum Theme Park is poised to become a major autumnal draw, showcasing the beauty of the season while contributing to the region’s tourism appeal.
