Four Israeli women reunite with family members following their release from Hamas in an emotional homecoming

Following more than 15 months of captivity in Gaza, four Israeli women soldiers who were freed by Hamas on Saturday experienced an emotional welcome home.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) published footage of the families, who were ecstatic to be back together and cheered and applauded.

"Now is the time. IDF posted the video on X and added, "Welcome home, Liri, Daniella, Karina, and Naama." Wearing IDF uniforms, the returns were spotted greeting their counterparts and gesturing with their hearts to the camera.
For medical examinations, the released Israeli soldiers—Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, and Naama Levy, all 20 years old, and Liri Albag, 19—went back to a hospital outside of Tel Aviv.
Lena Feldman Koren, the deputy director of the Rabin Medical Center, stated that all four of the Israeli hostages were in "stable" condition after they were flown there by military helicopter. She did, however, observe obvious effects of their extended and difficult imprisonment.
Albag and her dad were observed giggling and yelling with joy as her father raised her off the The IDF posted a video of the families witnessing their comrades' return as part of the truce agreement in another post.
"The moment when tears of sadness turned into tears of joy as the released hostages’ families saw their loved ones finally coming back home," read the statement.

The family remained hopeful throughout the ordeal, according to Daniella Gilboa's 15-year-old sister, who said, "We were hopeful and we did everything to see her back here, for her return...Whoa, I had a very different idea of her. It evoked every feeling I've had over the past 12 months.

As Israel released 200 Palestinian inmates in exchange, the second hostage-prisoner exchange under the current peace agreement, jubilation also erupted in the occupied West Bank.
33 hostages are scheduled to be released in phases over the first six weeks of the hostage swap in exchange for some 1,900 Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons. On the first day of the truce, three hostages were released in return for ninety Palestinians, marking the start of the process.

251 hostages were taken by terrorists during Hamas' October 7, 2023, raid, which signaled the start of the war; 87 of them are still in Gaza, including 34 that the Israeli military has confirmed are killed. The assault resulted in 1,210 fatalities.
According to data from the Gaza health ministry, which is controlled by Hamas and is considered credible by the UN, Israel's retaliatory operation has killed at least 47,283 individuals in Gaza, the bulk of whom were civilians.
