Day 3 LIVE updates for the Telangana tunnel collapse: Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the deputy chief minister, will visit the SLBC tunnel on Tuesday.
On Tuesday (February 25, 2025), the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse site has seen an increase in rescue attempts thanks to advanced equipment, including as endoscopic and robotic cameras.
On Tuesday, February 24, 2025, a group of skilled rat miners, who are well-known for their successful rescue operation at the Silkyara Bend-Barkot tunnel collapse in Uttarkashi last year, arrived in Domalapenta, the district, to support the ongoing efforts at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse site.
Coal extraction through tiny trenches, known as "rat-hole mining," was outlawed in 2014 due to its lack of scientific backing. However, skilled manual miners known as "rat miners" were called in after sophisticated machinery failed to free workers who had been stranded in a tunnel in Uttarkashi for 16 days. They were able to approach the stranded workers and help them escape by using hand tools.
Two engineers and two technicians were among the eight people trapped in the February 22 collapse.
