In an Irish vehicle accident, two Indian students were murdered and two others were injured.
The Indian community in Ireland is in mourning following the tragedy, and many people are banding together to help the victims' families through this trying time.
The car that Bhargav Chitturi and Suresh Cherukuri were in collided with a tree on the N80 road near Leagh, Rathoe, early on Friday, January 31, according to local media. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Irish Times. According to the report, "two additional car occupants, a man and a woman in their 20s, were transported to St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny with severe but non-life-threatening injuries."
In addition to offering its sympathies, the Indian Embassy in Dublin promised to support the injured and help the family and friends of the departed. "The Embassy Team is in touch with the family and friends of the deceased and is also extending all possible support and assistance to two Indian nationals injured in the accident," the Embassy said in a statement posted on X.
Police and other local authorities have issued a call for witnesses and requested anyone who may have video of the collision to come forward. At Graiguenaspiddoge, a black Audi A6 crossed the road and collided with a tree while heading towards Carlow town. The Irish Times quoted Superintendant Anthony Farrell of the Carlow Garda station as saying, "It is thought that the vehicle came from the direction of the Mount Leinster area, through Fenagh, and on to Carlow."
According to the publication, the four individuals who were involved in the collision had met at the Nine Stones parking lot on Mount Leinster the night before. It also stated that the four had been living together in a nearby home and had just completed their third-level schooling at South East Technological University (SETU) in Carlow.
