People are evacuated when a United Airlines flight in Houston catches fire during takeoff | Video
On Sunday, United Airlines Flight 1382 experienced a "reported engine issue" when one of its wings caught fire before takeoff, forcing the airline to cancel its departure from George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that a United Airlines flight from Houston on its way to New York was evacuated on Sunday morning (local time) after catching fire during takeoff. Days after two fatal accidents in the United States, this occurred.
According to the FAA, United Airlines Flight 1382 had to cancel its departure from George Bush Intercontinental Airport at approximately 8:35 a.m. on Sunday because of a "reported engine issue." Videos showed the United Airlines wing on fire.
A flight attendant was heard in the video requesting that passengers remain seated. One of the passengers can be heard exclaiming, "No, it's on fire." According to the Houston Fire Department, passengers used the emergency slide and the stairs to exit the aircraft.
