The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) held a massive awareness campaign in schools and public areas in honor of World Malaria Day, reaching hundreds of people including 4,740 pupils.

Navi Mumbai: In honor of World Malaria Day, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organized a massive awareness campaign that reached hundreds of people and 4,740 pupils in public areas and schools.

Under the subject "Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite," the campaign sought to raise public awareness of the need to avoid mosquito-borne illnesses, including dengue and malaria.

Practical demonstrations of Anopheles and Aedes mosquito larvae and breeding grounds were presented to students in Classes 7–10 from 26 different schools. They received training on locating and removing nesting grounds in and near residences.

In parallel, 370 students engaged in three morning rallies in Karave, Shiravane, and Ghansoli between 7:30 and 9:00 AM, using banners and slogans to raise awareness.

To raise awareness and engage outpatient visitors, street dramas were staged in the public hospitals in Nerul, Vashi, and Airoli. Students from Dr. D.Y. Patil Nursing College also performed at Ryan International School in Nerul, teaching younger pupils through hands-on activities.

Additionally, to further inform guests about mosquito-borne illnesses, a special awareness camp is being hosted at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre from April 25 to 27 in connection with the international conference of the Maharashtra State Radiologists Association.

By covering water storage containers and clearing debris and standing water sources from terraces and adjacent areas, residents can actively contribute to disease prevention, according to NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde.

He emphasized that mosquitoes breed in clean, stagnant water, often found in household settings, and said collective efforts are essential in combating the spread of malaria and dengue.
