May 6, New Delhi: All four major airports in Moscow were temporarily closed after Russia accused Ukraine of carrying out a second consecutive overnight drone strike, according to aviation authorities Rosaviatsia.

Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, reported that 19 drones were intercepted, and although debris fell on a major highway, no one was hurt.

Meanwhile, authorities in the Kursk area of Russia stated that two transformers were damaged in a Ukrainian strike, resulting in power disruptions in Rylsk.

Prior to this, Ukraine said it had hit a drone command post close to Tyotkino. Local officials in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine, have called for evacuations close to the border.

The events follow President Vladimir Putin's announcement of a unilateral three-day truce from May 8–11 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of World War II victory and his call for Kyiv to follow suit.

While reiterating its willingness to engage in negotiations without any restrictions, the Kremlin threatened to retaliate if the ceasefire was broken.
