In a rare show of support for CNN, the top five US broadcasters said on Monday that they were stopping "pool" coverage of the White House, in which a broadcaster films on behalf of all media channels for the day.
CNN was supposed to be the White House TV pool on Monday. Accurate, unbiased information on the government is of utmost importance to the people. According to a statement from ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox, and NBC, "no administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting."
The decision means that Trump's trip to the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, when he was scheduled to meet a number of foreign leaders, will not be televised.
CNN and MS NOW filed a complaint, claiming that the restriction violates the First Amendment of the US Constitution, which protects the right to free speech, and that the prohibition should be immediately overturned. The organizations stated in a court document that this prohibition could not be a more flagrant violation of our most basic constitutional principles or a more direct attack on the First Amendment.
Unrepentant, Trump called the media a "cancer" and a danger to the security of the country.
Trump stated, "The White House is not They are still able to report. They are still able to express themselves freely. He told reporters, "They're simply not going to get an office in the White House anymore."
