Pakistan Air Pollution: UN Alerts 11 Million Punjab Children at Risk, Lahore's AQI At 856

Image
According to live assessments from Swiss organization IQAir, Lahore's Air Quality Index (AQI) decreased marginally on Tuesday to fall below the 1000-mark, although it was still dangerous at 856. However, the AQI was much lower than the 1,900 it reached in certain locations earlier this month. Anything over 300 is seen as harmful to health, while a number between 0 and 50 is excellent.  Every winter, chilly air collects dust, pollutants, and smoke from field fires, causing a poisonous haze to spread across regions of South Asia. Punjab has attributed this year's poisonous air to pollution from India, where northern regions have also been experiencing dangerous air. The province has stated that it will discuss the matter with the neighboring nation through its foreign ministry. The most recent IQAir data indicates that Delhi's AQI is 301.

With the J-20 and J-35 combined, China's formidable air fleet becomes lethal; how can the Indian air force rapidly modernize?

Image
By: RGK Kapoor, Air Marshal (R) After more than four years of military standoff, the situation on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) appears to be normalizing as India and China disengage in the Depsang and Demchok areas of the Ladakh sector. Near-term stability on the LAC is probably going to be provided by disengagement followed by de-escalation, which is being discussed between China and India. On the other hand, the borders are still stable despite a recent spike in terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. From World War II to the current wars in Russia and Ukraine and Israel's war against Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, and Iran, airpower has been essential to every fight. Due to the technological sensitivity of air power, air forces must constantly modernize. This was demonstrated during the most recent Israeli airstrikes against Iran, where Israel used cutting-edge aircraft and weaponry to destroy specific targets without losing any aircraft. Regarding the strikes, his spokesperson Omer Dostri told AFP, "Mr. Netanyahu confirmed Sunday that he greenlighted the pager operation in Lebanon." In mid-September, Hezbollah operatives' handheld devices exploded twice in a succession in stores, on the streets, and at funerals. They took place before Israel's current military campaign in Lebanon and resulted in about 40 fatalities and approximately 3,000 injuries. After its all...

Amid the ongoing conflict with Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu fires Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for "lack of trust."

Image
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant was fired by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who attributed the decline in trust to Israel's continuing battle against Hamas in Gaza. Following repeated disputes between Netanyahu and Gallant on the military strategy in reaction to the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel last year, this decision was made. Netanyahu underlined the need of having "full trust" with the defense minister, particularly during times of conflict, and pointed out that this trust had been solid at first but had declined in recent months. Foreign Minister Israel Katz has been appointed as the new defense minister. Netanyahu praised Katz’s capabilities, citing his experience and contributions to national security. Netanyahu stated in a statement released by his office that "complete trust between the prime minister and the defense minister is required more than ever in the midst of a war."
